Now in its 3rd edition, Menu for Hope, the brainchild of the multi talented Pim  brought together this year blogs from around the world to raise funds for the United Nations Food Program.

My prize (UE18) is 'Champagne and Repas Chaud' (champagne and a hot meal) by Jean-Pierre Got.
Repaschaud
Based in the Bordeaux Region, Jean-Pierre has designed many Wine Labels, Posters and other Wine Related Items.
Amongst his recent creations are the posters for the Napa to Sonoma Marathon (2007) and The Guangzhou Wine Show (2007). A retrospective of his posters took place a few months ago at the French Consulate in San Francisco.

This Pastel, 'Champagne and Repas Chaud' is a draft of the final poster.
It is a one of kind item on Grey Canson Paper (8, 5 by 11, 5 inches) signed by the artist.
A friend told me that this type of ‘collectible’ should be worth $200.00 and up.

Anyway it is not about the money, it is about generosity.

Adam of Amateur Gourmet has The Complete List of the 18 prizes (including mine) offered by bloggers on the US East Coast.

You might have been sweating, trying to find the perfect gift for the perfect friend or better half and 'Champagne et Repas Chaud' is just right. In that case head straight to First Giving and the 'Menu for Hope' donation page at http://www.firstgiving.com/menuforhopeIII and place your bid.

Do not forget to use the Prize Number, in our case UE18.

Each $10 will give you one raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice.

Please specify which prize or prizes you'd like in the 'Personal Message' section in the donation form when confirming your donation.

Do tell us how many tickets per prize, and please use the prize code -for example, a donation of $50 can be 2 tickets for UW01 and 3 for UW02.

If your company matches your charity donation, please remember to check the box and fill in the information so we could claim the corporate match.

Please also check the box to allow us to see your email address so that we could contact you in case you win. Your email address will not be shared with anyone.

Check back on Chez Pim on January 15 when we announce the result of the raffle.

Just to make sure that the donation link worked, I checked it and it seems that no other than Ruth Reichl was amongst the early donors.

Merci beaucoup everyone in advance for your generosity.

Spread the word.

A Vertical, not of Wines but A Vertical Garden

Dec 9
I always relish the peaceful moments I find in botanical gardens, daydreaming, resting or enjoying a good book. When I build my dream house, I might have to hire Patrick Blanc to create a Vertical Garden. Known as Le Mur Vegetal in French (a loose translation would be the Wall of Vegetation) it is inspired by the work Patrick Blanc did around the world as a scientist studying various natural environments. The Vertical Garden can...

Trains, Planes and a 'Carbon Neutral' Christmas

Dec 11
You smell a trend when you read 2 articles covering the issue of air travel and the damage to the environment in 2 week-end papers. Taking the guilt sting out of your trip will cost anywhere from...
