There is a French tendency to 'cut hairs in four' when faced with choices and decisions.
Thinking things through and through can bring paralysis.
Are there moments when action can only have an upside?
Can you learn how to swim without jumping in the water?
These kind of thoughts were on my mind in the past few days as I
decided to go ahead with putting on the Montclair Twestival on February
12.
Over the years I met many people from non-profits and charitable organizations who were way more inspiring than business coaches or entrepreneurs.
Readind Causewired by Tom Watson also fueled my decision.
Being offered the Writers Loft as the space for the event pushed the project forward.
We are on track to having an event costing about nothing to organize.
The only investment is my time and that of the other volunteers involved.
It always irked me to see fundraisers spending a lot of money on their event.
In our case 100% of the money raised, $10 per person at a time, goes to Charity: Water for clean water projects.
Side benefits:
- A crash course in using virtual tools (Twitter mostly, fellow bloggers, a dash of Facebook) to make a real life event happen…
- Getting my brain to adjust to the times by making quick decisions, trying new things, using low or no cost tools
- Good deeds happen
- Having to collaborate and reach out to others
