Before the Flood: Floating Homes? The Dutch Way

Floods are the most common hazards according to FEMA which asks Are you Ready?.
In Australia, according to The Age, Queensland is experiencing Its worst flood Ever at this very moment.
TV program Nova offered an History of Floods and how to deal with the deluge.

Dutch architect Koen Olthius of Waterstudio came up with what they call flood resistant buildings, floating homes.

It was featured as far back as August 2006 in an Amphibious Living Quarters piece on Inhabitat which calls itself Future Forward Design For the World You Inhabit.

Another Dutch architect active in the field is Herman Hertzberger whose floating home was just featured in We'd like 250,000 of these, please (The Guardian).
