I thought days of flying to Europe from East Coast to Wurope in the summer for under $1000 were over until i noticed that at this time (May 3, 2014), one can find flights for around $900 from Newark to Brussels on KLM (some flights operated by Delta).

These flights require a stop in Amsterdam or Atlanta on way to Europe or back.

For example, for $879 RT, flight leaving Newark on August 13 at 6:05 PM (with change in Amsterdam) gets you in Brussels on August 14 at 9:55 with return flight on August 28 leaving Brussels at 11:05 AM (with change in Atlanta) gets you back in Newark at 6:50 pm...

From Brussels you can then hop on a train to London, Amsterdam, Paris and any number of cities and be there in no time.

Brussels on its own has plenty to offer including 14-18, a commemoration of the 1st World War.
