Grits and Biscuits, TV on The Radio, Food Trucks, Afro Punk Fest 2012, Brooklyn, August 25-26

A last minute trip to Copenhagen last year for Nordic Feed food event had me away from New York when 2011 edition of this event was planned.

It was canceled anyway due to Hurricane Irene.

I just received details on Afro Punk Festival 2012 (August 25-26).

Rather than mention TV on the Radio first, I picked Grits and Biscuits for its Southern flavor.

Other headliners include Erykah Badu, another food scented band is Bad Rabbit.

Afropunkfest

BITES & BEATS food truck extravaganza is making its debut this year.

Line up of 15 should include:

Rickshaw Dumpling, Mexicue, Eddie’s Pizza, Green Pirate Juice, Korilla BBQ, Kelvin Natural Sushi Co., Valducci’s Pizza, Bian Dang Taiwanese, Fishing Shrimp, Frites N Meats, Snap, Gorilla Cheese Truck, Morris Grilled Cheese, Jamaican Dutchy, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Wooly’s Ice, Taim Falafel, Desi Food Truck, Cupcake Crew

They will be parked on Navy Street between Park Ave & Flushing Ave.

Love crafts and clothes, there's a Spinthrift Market.

While you will have to pay for food, crafts and clothing, MUSIC is FREE.

8th Annual Afro-Punk Festival takes place August 25-26, 2012 at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NY.

As for me, that week-end I will be in Toulouse, France.

Enjoy!

What to Drink on Hot Sticky Day, Chilled Cucumber and Orange Juice from 'Morocco'

Aug 4
After sharing Snails in Spice-Tea Laden Broth recipe from Marrakech 'Djemaa El Fna' excerpted from Morocco 'A Culinary Journey...' (Chronicle Books, June 2012) by Jeff Koehler I thought this (non-alcoholic) drink recipe would be just right as what to drink on a hot sticky day. Chilled Cucumber and Orange Juice with Oregano Moroccans love fresh juices, and the combinations they make are eclectic and highly seasonal. This is one of my favorites. Although it is...
