Did Patti Smith pick July 14, Bastille Day, as the date for her concert with her band at River to River Festival in New York for extra symbolism or just a tip of the hat to her sources of inspiration in French culture and literature?

It sounds like a nice way to celebrate if you have a ticket.

Concert is at Castle Clinton and starts at 7 PM.

An odd thing was to note Ritz Carlton inviting concert goers on Twitter to stop by for a drink on their way to the show.

I did not realize until today that this part of Battery Park was run by the National Park Service.
