For the 6th year in a row, as Christmas and the end of the year
festivities approach, food and wine bloggers around the world join in
an effort to raise funds and awareness for the UN World Food Programme with Menu for Hope 6 (December 14-25).
Want to add a Japanese touch to your house parties in 2010?
Harumi Kurihara's latest cookbook 'Everyday Harumi' (Conran/Octopus) is the perfect introduction.
Harumi wants everyone to be able to make her recipes and she
demonstrates how easy it is to cook Japanese food for every day
occasions without needing to shop at specialist food stores. Arranged
by her favorite ingredients, Harumi presents recipes for soups,
starters, snacks, party dishes, main courses and family feasts that are
quick and simple to prepare, all presented in her effortless,
down-to-earth and unpretentious approach to stylish living and eating.
Every recipe is photographed and includes beautiful step by steps that
show key Japanese cooking techniques such as chopping skills or how to
serve rice. Texture and flavor are important to Japanese food and
Harumi takes you through the basic sauces you can make at home and the
staples you should have in your store cupboard. Photographed by
award-winning photographer Jason Lowe"
In the US and Europe, she might not be the food star she is in Japan, reason more to discover her now.
A signed copy of 'Everyday Harumi' is the first item we are offering for Menu for Hope 6 thanks to the generosity of Conran/Octopus USA.
The 2009 Edition of Menu for Hope benefits Purchase for Progress, a UN program buying food from small local farmers in turn providing them with a sense of stability.
Interested, the Bid Item Number for Everyday Harumi signed copy is UE34.
