It feels a bit weird mentioning this initiative after spending a good chunk of the morning and early afternoon driving around the New Jersey suburbia but the man has to make a living and it means wearing his concierge hat.
In any case, I am sure I like many others will learn how to manage my contradictions during No Impact Week which kicks off on October 18.
Inspired by what Colin Beavan, star of the documentary film No Impact Man and author of the book by the same title experienced, the Huffington Post 'Eyes and Ears' citizen journalism initiative partnered with Colin Beavan's No Impact Project to bring No Impact Week. It will not be about dropping everything at once but rather looking on a daily basis at how to reduce our wasteful ways.
What will take place according to the Program Notes during that week:
Monday the spotlight will
be on reducing trash,
Tuesday will be about commuting without adding
carbon to the environment – i.e., encouraging bike riding and walking;
Wednesday will be about encouraging eating foods grown locally and/or
sustainably —
and so forth."
Video below gives you some additional cues.
How I can tweak things and contribute my 2 bits of progress?
Where will I succeed, where will I fail?
We'll see starting October 18.
