Fancy a Three Some, Here's one from Napa

Nothing wrong with being playful.
Fancy a Three Some, here's one from Napa.
Not a 'partie de jambes en l'air' as we would say in France.

The IIIsomms in question was created by 3 sommeliers, Bernie Sun (Beverage Director and Sommelier for Jean-Georges), Janet Pouchot (Sommelier at Restaurant Daniel), Julius Chai (Maitr'D at Ciao Vito in Portland, Oregon ).
They became friends after meeting at various wine trade events.

From this friendship came this Amitie 2005, a Napa Valley blend of
60%  cabernet franc, 20%  merlot, 15%  cabernet sauvignon and 5%  petit verdot.

Good wine, easy drinking, not sure it is worth close to $20 retail though, more like a $15 wine to me.

I personally think 'Amitie' (friendship in English) is a better fit. I guess with IIIsomms they followed in the tracks of other labels such as Folie a Deux (Menage a Trois) who try hard to be cute.

Reds I would choose over this one, better value in my opinion, are Ex Libris and also from Washington State The Pitch.

He wonders if these crustaceans would sound more appetizing if they were renamed like the Patagonian tooth fish becoming Chilean Sea Bass. In an odd display of affection for this food, the writer mentions that Taxis zip around town with giant plastic crabs on top. It...

The end of overflowing garbage cans is near with Big Belly

Jan 8
No I am not feverish, just a sore throat this morning. We all have visited a park, the beach or another public space and had to see and smell the garbage overflowing from the containers or baskets. A US company came up with one of these simple yet great ideas, an on site compactor. No overflow, smaller volumes, less frequent pickups. As a plus this Big Belly is solar powered. Found it on Springwise. The...
