This is not a Love Song...Altoids opens its doors to the Cupid Weary in Chicago, Miami and New York

Some people like their single status or just do not feel like being washed up by the Valentine's Day Waves.
Altoids decided to look at what they call the dark side of Valentine's day with 3 temporary 'Curious and Original Chocolate Shoppes'.

Here is how they present the concept: "Sick of all the Valentine's Day hype? Unattached and glad about it? In the week leading up to Valentine's Day, Altoids invites the lovesick, lovelorn and Cupid-wary to a sanctuary from all the romantic overtures."

Lovestinks

Amongst the activities suggested are these two:

-Share your most miserable breakup story for a chance to win a free year's supply of Altoids.
-Pass the time on Valentine's Day with a free quirky subversive Love Stinks "do-it-yourself" cross stitch kit (limited quantities)

I don't know if their 'Love Stinks' refers to the J Geils Band song and album of the same name (pictured here).

To stay in the musical department, This is not a Love song' by Public Image has its place here as well.

The three temporary Altoids stores are opened daily until February 14, from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm.

They are located in:

  • New York: 350 Bleecker Street, corner of W. 10th Street
  • Chicago: 912 W. Armitage Ave, Lincoln Park
  • Miami: 2982 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove

This one was for the contrarians.

I first read about the Altoids stores on Springwise.

Other Valentine's Day treats: Frou Frou, Romance her with cupcakes and A Portrait with the pose

Should it take a MBA to discover that you have to give in order to get?

As reported in How London Business School helped alter my ego (Financial Times MBA Diary), It took William McKenzie a few months spent studying for his MBA to realize that the most valuable assets to be successful in business were the relationships he builds. I ran a business networking group for about 5 years ( part of Fast Company's Readers Network) and was always surprised to see how people did not realize the importance of...

Close Encounters of the First Kind... My first Uruguayan wine: Cisplatino

Feb 13
There is a first time for many things in life. Sunday was my first time for Uruguayan wines. I like to try new things, new flavors and since the wine was only around $10.00, I thought what the heck! Worse case scenario I would have used it as cooking wine. Actually this Cisplatino (I bought the 2005) shows character and good tannins, I enjoyed it with full flavored cheeses. It will also pair well with...
