No Stale Products or Ideas Served Here

I always check on Signal vs Noise from 37 Signals especially since I started using Backpack with the Calendar to better coordinate schedules with my wife.
Today Jason notes that while Visiting Vinnie's, a local Chicago sandwich shop, he wondered about their opening hours as they were not posted on the door. The answer was We close when the bread runs out which challenges convention. When you think about it though, it makes sense. They feel that the morning bread batch is fresher and better so when they stay open while they can maintain their standards.

I recently had to mention to a manager at my local Whole Foods that their baguettes were not as crusty as they used to be and their Chocolate Croissants overbaked (or should I say slightly burned).

Have you been to a restaurant, say on a Sunday evening. They stayed open even though they run out of many items and you are facing servers who have to deliver the bad news. All these negatives can leave a really bad taste, especially if you brought along friends and all or most of the items that you recommended to them are gone.

Better hang the sign 'Closed' rather than serve stale products or ideas!
