Noise Annoys...Loud Restaurants & Stores...How about a quiet time!

Through all my years working in the restaurant field, I worked in some pretty noisy places. I remember especially a Trattoria where the 'italian' soundtrack was 'blasted' on the speakers. What with the conversations and the open kitchen and waiters having to raise their voice over all that to offer the specials, It made for very tiring surroundings. Regarding the music, if there is a need for any, taste would suggest something soothing ( I do not mean 'new age' or 'elevator music') like chamber music, bossa nova or Bill Evans for example. You now have to add to that the cellphone ringing and people sharing their conversations with the other diners. We should stop that Bizzyness. Let us enjoy a quiet moment, please!
Noticing the title of Nicolas Lander's column The drawbacks of dining amid the din got me going on this topic.
