Seafood Ice-Cream and other strange brews...Big in Japan

Did you ever crave a taste of Octopus (Taco Aisu)or Crab (Kani Aisu) ice cream, well Japan has it and more as illustrated in The wacky world of Japanese Ice Cream by the Mainichi Daily News.Cactus
Bert Christensen offers more tantalizing choices such as Cactus ice cream (see picture) on his Weird and Different Recipes site. Yahoo News found also that you can Beat the heat -- with rattlesnake ice cream and informs us that all these ice creams are either Vanilla or Chocolate based.

Top 100 (101) Restaurants in the Bay Area according to the San Francisco Chronicle

If you are traveling to the Bay Area (San Francisco for non US residents), the San Francisco Chronicle published back in April its pick of the Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants for 2006. One that really got my attention was AME, located in the St Regis Hotel in San Francisco. The creation of Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani who also run Terra Restaurant in St Helena (Napa Valley), 'AME' restaurant blends japanese and italian elements.

My pick of their offerings of the day is the 'Coyoacan' video. Coyoacan is a neighborhood in Mexico City notable for its architecture and its Mercado (Market). It also played host to Leon Trotsky, Frida Kahlo and Diego Riveira.
