Small tweaks can add up.
We don't have to wait for a single conference to save every problem for us.
There are ways that as individuals we can make changes, be greener and possibly even save money.
Such an approach is on the menu of the third Greener Gadgets Conference to be held in New York on February 25, 2010 at McGraw-Hill Conference Center.
It includes a panel entitled Green Living Begins at Home which "will outline how a green home can also be a smart home, whether it' s in an urban or rural location, on or off the grid."
This session will be moderated by Sarah Rich, Editor of Dwell and features so far Kimberly Lancaster, Founder, Green Life Smart Life Project.
What's this project about, here's their introduction:
Starting with a 1-acre lot on the beautiful Rhode Island coast, the homeowners decided to take on the task of applying their day to day eco-friendly habits to their new home building project and found that the challenges of limited resources and information had to be resolved in order for everyone to truly understand what it means to go green. Combining green building with smart home technology, Green Life Smart Life embraces the notion that modern day living can and should go hand in hand with sustainability and environmental stewardship."
As part of this home project they just installed (December 09), the geothermal basement unit (below).
Keynote speakers for the event will be Yves Behar (at the opening) and Robert Fabricant (closing).
Robert Fabricant leads frog Design for Impact initiatives, which focus on using mobile technologies to increase access to information and accelerate positive behavior change."
Greener Gadgets is a great way to spend a fruitful day, be ready to listen and learn.
