Skipping Cocktails and Desserts when Eating Out? Consumed to Thrifty!

A`week ago, catching up with a friend, I mentioned my recent thoughts on turning From Consumed to Thrifty as much or more by choice than necessity.
She actually followed the same train of thought in the past few months.
Having recently left her well paid yet stressful job, she took that approach even more to heart.
Rather than depriving herself of material pleasures, before an important purchase, she would stop and think how much work time it would be equal to.
Being wiser (choosier) brought more freedom actually, she felt.
On a smaller scale, she offered that skipping cocktails and desserts when eating out would cut the bill quite a bit.
After someone shared with me that on a recent trip to London, 4 Martinis equaled $100 US, I guess I have to agree.
Not that restaurateurs will be thrilled at the idea.

Any thoughts you want to share on this topic?
